Bumgenius Cloth Diapers

I really like the Gdiapers, but there was one big drawback for me - you have to buy different sizes as your baby grows.  When I added up the cost of newborn + small + medium + large I was a bit overwhelmed with the thought of buying all those sizes and the parts that go with them.  So I did some more research and discovered Bumgenius cloth diapers.

I decided that Bumgenius 4.0  style of cloth diapers would be a good  match for my lifestyle on the following criteria :

All in  One Size that will work for babies 7 - 35lbsI will still grab the newborn starter pack from gDiapers, but after that I will be able to buy one set of Bumgenius and use them until potty training.  This solved my major cost problem with gDiapers.  On that note I do still like the newborn starter pack from gDiapers, and think it is a great value so I will start out with that and then switch to Bumgenius when the baby is big enough.  The great thing about gDiapers is that they hold their value so I plan on selling my newborn starter pack when I am finished to get back some of my investment.

Hook & Loop Closures
My baby isn't even born yet, and I am already having trouble with all the snaps on the cute little baby clothes in my collection.  With that said the thought of diapering a wiggly baby in diapers with a bunch of snaps scares me a little.  That's why I decided it was hook and loop for me!  If you are more into snaps you can get the Bumgenius 4.0 with snaps too.

Affordability
Bumgenius 4.0 run about $17.95 on Amazon which is a great price in comparison to other brands.  The value is even better considering the all in one size.

Disposable Insert Option
I am planning on using cloth with the Imse Vimse liners that I blogged about recently, but I also really like the idea of having a disposable insert option.  Bumgenius also manufactures the brand Flip which makes an affordable disposable insert that will fit in the Bumgeunus diapers.  This makes the Bungenius just as versatile as the gDiapers!

So with that said my current diapering plan is as follows : gDiapers newborn kit, and then Bumgenius 4.0 with hook and loop closures.  I will be using cloth + liners, and disposable inserts on occasion.  Now I am ready to start collecting diapers to be ready for baby.  I am aiming for a set of 20-24 before baby arrives so if I have a crazy day I can skip laundry if needed.  When the time comes I will report back how it all works out!

Great info! I have been researching cloth diapers for LO #2. I didn't cloth diaper with #1 but feel that I am brave enough to try with the second. It seems that the best reviews have been for bum genius cloth diapers. My sister says bumGenius were the only diapers that would make it all the way through the night with no leaks.
